Getting started & Membership

  • Sostena Leisure is a fresh, community‑focused wellbeing hub based in Indian Queens, Cornwall.

We're more than a gym (although that's definitely a big part of what we do). Think private workout pods and group circuits alongside traditional weights and cardio – all guided, if you want, by digital personal trainers - but also a vibrant café and social spaces where you can meet a friend, make new ones or join in with your local community groups.

You’ll find augmented‑reality fun like AR darts, iCourt gaming and VR pool, plus group classes, squash courts, wellness sessions and flexible areas for meet‑ups or workshops.

Whether you’ve never exercised or you’re a seasoned gym‑goer, Sostena welcomes all: memberships, day‑passes and family or group discounts are available.

Our aim? To blend fitness with social connection, offering a well‑designed space where you might book a class, grab a coffee, catch up with friends or pop in to unwind between meetings.

It’s fitness, café culture and community rolled into one relaxed, inclusive venue.

  • Every Sostena membership gives you access to our fitness equipment, social spaces and community-focused activities.

You can use our Technogym BioCircuit and Pulse Pods, join classes for all levels and book time on the squash and interactive court.

You’ll also get access to the Activity Café, which doubles as a social and co-working space with games, coffee and comfortable seating.

The exact benefits depend on the plan you choose.

Day Pass members can pay-as-they-go, while paid members enjoy discounts, extended booking windows and other perks.

For example, Fitness+ members get three fitness sessions each week included, plus 30% off café activities.

Whichever you choose, all memberships are designed to be flexible, inclusive, and suited to different lifestyles.

You can learn more about our membership options here.

  • 1. Choose your plan
Visit the Join page on our website and pick the membership that suits you, whether that’s our free Day Pass plan or one of our paid options.

    2. Create your account
Follow the prompts to set up your account.

For Student, we’ll just need a few extra details like student ID.

    3. Set up your membership
Paid plans will ask for payment details, and then your membership will renew automatically, monthly or annually, depending on what you choose.

    4. Start booking

    • Fitness activities: Book via the Technogym app (or contact us directly if you prefer not to use the app).

    • Activity Café sessions: Book directly through the Sostena website.

    5. You’re in
Once you’re signed up, you’re free to book, visit and enjoy the space in whatever way suits you.

  • Yes, you don’t need to commit to a paid membership to try Sostena. Here's your options:

    Book a free look around

If you’d prefer a more guided introduction, you can book a free look around here.

This gives you a chance to take a look around with a member of the team, try out the equipment and complete your Technogym CheckUp, which is a short, guided assessment that helps you understand your fitness starting point and get personalised training suggestions.

It’s a relaxed, no‑pressure way to see if Sostena’s right for you. And if you decide to sign up for a paid membership later, you can do that anytime.

  • The free look around is a relaxed, one‑to‑one session designed to help you get started at Sostena.

Here’s what to expect, but we can adjust it based on how long you have available:

    • A guided tour of the venue so you can see the fitness pods, café, social areas and squash court, and ask any questions along the way.

    • An introduction to the Technogym equipment, including how the guided BioCircuit works and how to book your sessions.

    • Your Technogym CheckUp, a short, low‑impact physical assessment using our smart equipment. It gives you an overview of your current fitness level and suggests a starting point for your training.

    • Time to explore, try the kit for yourself and get comfortable using the space.

There’s no pressure to sign up for anything: the look around is simply a chance to see how Sostena works and how it could work for you.

Book your free look around here now.

  • Not at all. Sostena is designed to support every level of fitness, including if you’re just getting started.

Whether you’ve never stepped into a gym before, you’re coming back after a break, or you’re managing a health condition, everything at Sostena is set up to meet you where you are.

Our Technogym CheckUp helps you understand your starting point, and the guided BioCircuit adapts to your ability, so there's no need for you to remember settings or push beyond what feels right.

Classes are available for all levels, with gentler options if you’re looking to build confidence or ease into movement gradually.

You can also book a free look around, where we’ll show you around, introduce the equipment and answer any questions you might have.

In short: there’s no ‘minimum level’ required, so just bring yourself and we’ll help you find your own way forward.

  • Yes, you don’t need to complete the Technogym CheckUp to use the space, but it does unlock more of what Sostena has to offer.

If you’re just here for a class, a squash match or a coffee in the café, you can book and enjoy those without doing a CheckUp.

And if you’d like to use our Technogym BioCircuit or Pulse Pods, while it's not essential, the CheckUp is strongly recommended. It takes just a few minutes and helps the equipment tailor your sessions to your body and goals adjusting resistance, seat settings and timing automatically.

You can complete your CheckUp during a free look around or by booking it as a standalone session via the Technogym app or by talking to a member of staff. It’s quick, non-invasive, and gives you useful insights into your fitness, whether you’re just starting out or already active.

So while it’s not essential, it’s a helpful step if you want to make the most of the space.

If you'd like to see it in action before you decide, why not head to our explainer or book your free look around?

  • You can cancel your membership anytime, but freezing isn’t currently available.

You'll need to manage your membership through your Technogym account.

    Further information

There’s no long‑term contract or cancellation fee: your plan will simply run until the end of the current billing period. If you're on an annual membership, your access continues until the year is up, and it will renew unless you choose to cancel.

If you're unsure which option is best or need help making changes, feel free to get in touch. We're always happy to help you find what works.

Technogym CheckUp & Onboarding

  • The Technogym CheckUp is a short, guided assessment that helps you understand your current fitness level and tailor your training to suit you.

It takes around 40-50 minutes and is done using Technogym’s smart equipment. You’ll complete a few gentle movements that measure things like strength, balance and flexibility. From there, the system creates a personal profile that’s used to customise your workouts, including setting the right resistance, timing, and seat positions for the BioCircuit and Pulse Pods.

You don’t need to be fit to do a CheckUp because it’s designed for all abilities and is completely non‑judgemental. You can complete one during your free induction, or book it separately when you’re ready.

It’s not mandatory, but it does make your sessions smarter, safer, and more effective, especially if you're new to exercise or want a clear starting point.

  • The Wellness Score is a simple number that gives you an overview of your current health and fitness status, based on the results of your Technogym CheckUp.

It takes into account several factors, like strength, balance, flexibility, body composition and cardiovascular fitness, to give you a score out of 100. The higher your score, the more balanced and active your overall wellness profile is.

This score isn’t about being “fit” in a traditional sense; it’s a starting point. It helps you understand where you are right now and guides the system to create a training plan that works for you.

As you continue moving, training and using the space, your score can change over time, giving you a clear, motivating way to track progress beyond just weight or fitness.

You don’t need to hit any targets. The Wellness Score is just one more tool to help you feel your best, in your own way.

  • Your Technogym CheckUp is a short, guided session that takes around 40-50 minutes. It’s designed to be approachable and useful, whether you’re new to fitness or just new to Sostena.

    Here’s what’s involved:

    1. Introduction & setup: We’ll get you logged into the system using your Technogym account, which stores your results and helps you track progress over time.

    2. Guided movement assessment: You’ll complete a few simple exercises on the equipment, but nothing intense or intimidating. These might include balance tests, controlled movements, or light resistance tasks to measure strength, flexibility and coordination.

    3. Receive your Wellness Score: Once complete, you’ll get a Wellness Score (out of 100), which is a snapshot of your current health and fitness status.

    4. Get tailored recommendations: Your results are used to automatically adjust settings on the BioCircuit and Pulse Pods, creating a personalised training experience that matches your level.

It’s quick, helpful, and built to support your goals from day one.

  • There’s no set rule, but we recommend redoing your CheckUp every 8–12 weeks to keep your training plan up to date and track how things are progressing.

As your fitness improves or your goals change, a fresh CheckUp helps ensure your BioCircuit and Pulse Pod sessions are still working for you, adjusting things like resistance, timing, and movement range to match your current level.

You can book a new CheckUp anytime through the Technogym app, or simply speak to a member of staff next time you’re in. It only takes a few minutes, and you’ll get an updated Wellness Score to help you stay motivated and informed.

Even small improvements can be a big boost, so rechecking regularly is a great way to see how far you’ve come.

  • Yes, you can complete the Technogym CheckUp as part of a free look around Sostena, without needing to join as a paid member.

The free look around is open to everyone and gives you a relaxed introduction to the space. As part of that session, you’ll be guided through your first CheckUp so you can see how it works, try the equipment, and get your Wellness Score.

There’s no commitment required because it’s simply a chance to explore what Sostena offers and decide if it’s right for you. If you choose to join afterwards, great. If not, no problem. The free look around (and the CheckUp) is there to support you either way.

  • You don’t need to do a Technogym CheckUp to use all of the equipment, but for certain areas, it’s strongly recommended.

    Here’s the breakdown:

    • Technogym BioCircuit and Pulse Pods: While you can use them without it, it's strongly recommended that you complete a Technogym CheckUp before your first session. The CheckUp sets your personalised profile, including resistance levels, seat positions, and timing, so the equipment can automatically adapt to you.

    • Other fitness activities (like classes or squash): No CheckUp required. You can book and take part straight away, whether you're on a free or paid membership.

    • Activity Café games and social spaces: No CheckUp needed, so just book your slot and enjoy.

If you're not sure whether you’ll use the BioCircuit or Pods yet, you can still book a free look around to try the CheckUp and decide from there.

How Sostena Works

  • Yes, to help manage the flow of people and make sure there’s space and equipment available, we ask all members to book sessions in advance.

    Here’s how it works:

    • Fitness sessions (BioCircuit, Pulse Pods, Squash Court, Hub Room, Bolt-Ons): These are booked through the Technogym app. If you’d prefer not to use the app, you can also contact us directly and we’ll book it for you.

    • Activity Café sessions (AR darts, UV ping-pong, etc.): These are booked via your membership area within the Sostena website.

Booking helps ensure you get the slot you want and lets us keep things running smoothly for everyone. The length of your booking window depends on your membership type. For example, Casual members can book up to 7 days ahead, while paid plans offer up to 14 days and other perks.

If you’re ever unsure, just ask a member of the team who will be happy to help.

  • Not necessarily. There are three easy options to access your profile when you visit:

    • Use the Technogym app on your phone: Scan the QR code on the equipment to load your personalised settings, including resistance levels, seat positions and programme details.

    • Use a wristband: If you’d rather leave your phone in your bag, you can use a wristband instead. Just tap it on the kiosk when you enter a BioCircuit, Pulse Pod or Hub Room and it will automatically up the equipment you use throughout your session.

    • Use a login: If you'd rather not use your phone or a wristband, then you can use a simple login (email address & password) to store your profile.

All of these options give you instant access to your profile and make sure your workouts are tailored to you.

You can choose whichever method suits you best, and if you ever forget either, a member of staff can help you get set up manually.

So no, you don’t have to have your phone on you at all times.

  • Both the Technogym app and wristband give you access to your personalised training profile, but they work a little differently:

    • Technogym App: This is where you can book fitness sessions, view your Wellness Score, track your progress over time, and get extra training tips or goal suggestions. When you're in the space, you simply scan the QR code on each piece of equipment to load your settings.

    • Technogym Wristband: The wristband is a quick login tool. Tap it on the equipment and your saved settings (from your last CheckUp or session) will load automatically. It doesn’t track progress or let you book; it’s purely for ease during workouts.

    In short:
Use the app to book and track.
Use the wristband to train without needing your phone.

You can use one or both, whichever fits your routine best.

  • Yes. While the Technogym app is very helpful, it’s not essential.

Here’s what you can do without it:

    • Fitness sessions (like BioCircuit, Pulse Pods, Hub Room): You can still take part, just speak to a member of staff and we’ll book you in and help you log into the equipment manually or with a wristband.

That said, the Technogym app does make things easier, especially for booking fitness sessions, checking availability, viewing your Wellness Score and tracking your progress.

But if apps aren’t your thing, that’s absolutely fine. We’ll always have another way to help you get moving.

  • Once you’ve completed your Technogym CheckUp, the system creates a personal training profile based on your strength, range of movement, and goals.

From there, it adapts in a few key ways:

    • Automatic adjustments: When you start a session on the BioCircuit or Pulse Pods, the equipment recognises you (via the app, wristband or simple login) and instantly adjusts the seat height, resistance level, and exercise timing, no need to set anything manually.

    • Progress tracking: Each time you train, the system logs your performance. It gradually increases resistance or duration as you improve, so you’re always challenged at the right level; not too easy, not too hard.

    • Personalised programmes: Based on your CheckUp and goals, the system recommends routines tailored to your ability, whether you’re new to exercise, recovering, or training regularly.

It’s smart, supportive, and designed to keep you moving at your own pace.

  • Yes, you’re welcome to use multiple spaces during the same visit. Just book the sessions you want, and we’ll make sure the space and equipment are ready for you.

For example, you might start with a BioCircuit session, head to the café for a break, then finish with a game of squash or a wellness class.

As long as the timings work and there’s availability, you can move between areas however suits you.

    Just remember:

    • Fitness activities (BioCircuit, Pulse Pods, classes) are booked through the Technogym app or by speaking to a member of our team.

    • Activity Café sessions (AR darts, UV ping-pong, etc.) are booked via the Sostena website.

There’s no limit on how many different spaces you use.

Booking & Usage

  • Booking fitness spaces at Sostena is simple, here’s how it works:

    • Use the Technogym app
This is the easiest way to book sessions for BioCircuit, Pulse Pods, Squash Courts, and group fitness classes. Just log in, browse available times, and reserve your slot.

    • Don’t want to use the app?
No problem, you can also book by speaking to a member of staff in person or contacting us by phone or email. We’ll check availability and get you booked in.

Your booking window depends on your membership:

    • Free members can book up to 7 days in advance

    • Paid memberships (like Community, Fitness & Fitness+) offer up to 14 days and additional perks

Booking ahead helps make sure the equipment and space you need is ready for you, and it keeps things smooth for everyone.

  • You can, but we always recommend booking ahead if you can.

If you turn up without a booking, we’ll do our best to find you a space, but availability isn’t guaranteed, especially during busy times.

Some sessions (like BioCircuit and Pulse Pods) have limited capacity and need setup based on your personal profile, so booking helps us prepare and avoid delays.

    Here’s a quick guide:

    • Fitness sessions (BioCircuit, Pulse Pods, Hub Room, Squash Court, Bolt-Ons): Best booked in advance via the Technogym app or by contacting us.

    • Activity Café games: Also best booked online (via the Sostena website), but we may have walk-in slots if no one else has reserved.

    • Social and café spaces: You’re always welcome to drop in, no booking needed for coffee, board games, or casual meetups.

So while walk-ins are possible, booking gives you peace of mind and the best experience.

  • Yes, your session at Sostena can include as many spaces as you like, as long as each one is booked in advance.

For example, you might start with a Pulse Pod workout, then head straight into a group class or cool down with a game of AR darts in the Activity Café. As long as you’ve booked each activity, you’re welcome to move between them in one visit.

    Here’s how booking works:

    • Fitness sessions (like BioCircuit, Pulse Pods, Hub Room & Squash Court) are booked through the Technogym app or by speaking to a member of our team.

There’s no limit on how many areas you can combine. Just plan your timings and make your bookings ahead of time so everything runs smoothly.

  • If you’re running late, don’t worry, we’ll always do our best to help.

    But here’s how it works:

    • For fitness sessions (BioCircuit, Pulse Pods, classes):
Your spot is reserved for the time you’ve booked. If you arrive late, you may still be able to join, but your session time won’t be extended. If the session is full or you miss too much of it, we might ask you to rebook.

    • For Activity Café bookings (AR darts, ping-pong, etc.):
We’ll hold your booking for a short while, but if you don’t show up and haven’t let us know, we may release the space so someone else can use it. You cancel via your members area up to 12hrs before your session, but after that we reserve the right to charge you.

If you miss a session completely, there’s no penalty, but repeated no‑shows can affect booking privileges, especially during busy periods.

If you know in advance you can’t make it, just cancel your booking via the app or drop us a quick message, either by calling us (01726 247 742) or sending us a text to 07833 200 460.

  • In most cases, yes, but it depends on what you’ve booked and what membership you’re on.

    • If you’re on a Family membership:
You can book sessions for anyone covered by your plan: up to two adults and all children in the same household. Just make sure each person has their own profile so we can tailor sessions like BioCircuit or Pulse Pods properly.

    • If you’re on another membership:
You can’t directly share your bookings, but friends and family can create their own free Casual accounts to join you. You can then book sessions at the same time (subject to availability).

    • For Activity Café games and social spaces:
Yes. These are designed to be enjoyed together. Just book the slot through the website and bring your group along.

If you’d like to bring someone with you and aren’t sure how to book for them, just ask and we’ll help you get sorted.

    Here’s how booking works:

    • Fitness sessions (like BioCircuit, Pods, and classes) are booked through the Technogym app or by talking to a member of staff.
